Imagine our world after an Apocalypse. What could the next age be like?

Sure it is unthinkable, but we must be prepared just in case. With all the 2012 prophecy talk and a tendency with humans for self-fulfillment, I think we must consider the possibilities of a Post-Apocalyptic world. As awful and horrible as it may be during the maelstrom, the aftermath could be wonderful, like a fresh canvas, a clean slate. It would be an opportunity for the humans who survive it (I am optimistic) - to live wiser and with less struggle as Humans from Earth. I’m not talking about a Utopian society, which I believe is not inherently possible, or natural, given that Nature is always in flux, but ...
I imagine a New Renaissance where our children and grandchildren evolve to manage a better Earth where:
  • Humans are more tolerant, empathetic and sympathetic.
  • Humans are less parasitic, more sustainable, and better attuned with the environment.
  • Daily life has less stress, less rat race tactics, less posturing, less xenophobia.
  • Success is not measured by excess.
  • Creativity and art are as important as conformity and technology.
  • Religion and science can be viewed as equally miraculous results of Nature and coexist with less extremes of fundamentalism.
  • Embrace diversity with understanding and balance among societies and cultures of the Earth.
ALL DOOMSAYING ASIDEthere is no reason to need an apocalypse to achieve a better and more balanced world. I think the conversation should be ongoing for creating that change and I intend to promote those ideas with this blog.

Do Psychopaths, Sociopaths and Corporations Rule the World?

“Some psychologists have a theory that many of the world’s ills can be blamed on psychopaths in high places.”
- Robert Hare from "The Psychopath Test"

Quote is from the below article on the NPR site. The comments for this article are also interesting.

Hopefully some light bulbs are beginning to go on out there! The world does need to change people, and if we do not need an Apocalypse to make that happen, but WE THE PEOPLE can change the status quo.

TIME TO WAKE UP NOW, PEOPLE. Because if the unthinkable does occur then whoever is left has the opportunity to recreate (notice the double meaning of this verb) the structure of society GLOBALLY. A Post-Apocalyptic world does not have to be like the movies, No Mad Max and gangs of survivors fighting for every resource. WE ARE ALREADY DOING THAT NOW.

BE A REBEL WITH A CAUSE

“The materialistic and selfish quality of contemporary life is not inherent in the human condition. Much of what appears “natural” today dates from the 1980s: the obsession with wealth creation, the cult of privatization and the private sector, the growing disparities between rich and poor"

“It’s about not forgetting the past. About having the courage to look at the present and see its faults without walking away in disgust or skepticism. … I do think we’re on the edge of a terrifying world, and that many young people know that but don’t know how to talk about it.”
–Tony Judt from “Ill Fares the Land”
Success should not be about excess. Boycott this tendency.
Resist the urge to watch the not-so-reality tv shows.
Excessive Interest in the celebrity lifestyle only increases their net worth and decreases your own self-worth.
We should not indulge criminals with media attention and infamy.
Stop being a sheeple and feeding the beast.
